Which Animal is best for Sacrificing on this Eid-ul-Adha & Rules of Qurban (Cows, Goats, Sheeps & Camels)

Choosing an animal for sacrificing on Eid-ul-Adha is really a big deal. Eid-ul-Adha is an auspicious occasion of Muslims in which all of Muslims sacrifice something precious for Allah. From 10th Dilhajj’s Morning to 12th Dilhajj’s Evening, Muslims work hard to make happy Allah. Allah, who is most merciful see the better mind of their beloved people. Allah doesn’t need meat of our sacrificed animals he only wants goodness of his people.



History of Eid-ul-Adha

It is the holy festival of Muslims in which they sacrifice the lawful animals in memories of Hazrat Ismail Allaih-e-Salaam and Hazrat Ibrahim Allaih-e-Salaam. Eid-ul-Adha in different languages Festival of Sacrifices, Idul Azha, Eid-ul-Azha, Eid-e-Qurban, Bakra Eid. This occasion is a part of historical sacrificing story of Hazrat Ibrahim A.S. and Hazrat Ismail A.S. In this Story, Hazrat Ibrahim A.S. saw a dream in which Allah ordered him to sacrifice his son Hazrat Ismail A.S. for Allah. After Morning, Ibrahim A.S. describes his dream to his son and obedient Hazrat Ismail is ready for sacrifice in the line of Allah. So, Both willing people are ready and on the position and suddenly a sheep appears instead of Hazrat Ismail because of latest orders of Allah to Angel.


Rules of Selecting Animals

Allah settled some rules which define what is good and what is bad for sacrificing. Here, I am mentioning rules of sacrificing animals on Eid-ul-Adha in bullets.



• Salaat-e-Eid (Prayer of Eid) is necessary on the day of Eid for every Muslim who is sacrificing or not.

• Shariaah or Islamic Laws made the animals lawful or Halal for Sacrificing (Goat, Sheep, Camel, cow).

• Muslim Laws also settled the specific age for specific animals.

• You can sacrifice sheep that is at least at the age of six months.

• It is necessary that goat or lamb is at least one year old or two teeth.

• Cow at least of two years old or have two teeth.

• Camel should be in the exactly age of five years or twelve years old in some Laws.

• The animal should be free from all defects like one or no eyed animal whose defects are obvious, sick animals whose sickness can be seen easily, a lame animal whose limp can be easily seen and an emaciated animal that has no marrow in its bones.

  1. SUBHANALLAH the concept of Eid-ul-adha is to sacrifice the live of innocent animal for the sake of remembrance of prophet that in love of ALLAH he is going to agree on what ALLAH demands from him. this love can only be get by reading such stories and the Holy Quran

  3. Allah ki raah Mohhbat, raham aur aman kee raah hai. Allah ko kisi sacrifice ki jarurat nahi hai, woh bus neki chahta hai.

    It was Saitan not Allah was asking for sacrifice from Hazrat Ibrahim.

    So dont kill innocent people, Be Human and let other animals live, we are as a human intellegent breed should protect bird, animals and nature its our duty even Quran says that....

      Else you must be continuing to sacrifice human instead of halal animals, the history is full of roman barbarian, Mangol bloodbath, the Mayan Culture.....
      One should not put the comment if he does not know about the greatest religion Allah has given to mankind.

  5. The Article is helpful for all those who wish to sacrifice animal during coming Eid-ul- Adha. It would have beeN further helpful IF IT HAD ALSO COVERED FOR WHOM SHOULD SACRIFICE BE DONE. Is it ONE animal for a family by head of the family or for each adult member of the family by the head of the family?
